kaylee was born 12 years ago today........wow! i can't believe she is in middle school and young women's. she is such a good girl and we are so proud of her.

12 things i love about kaylee:

1. she is the best big sister. (her little brothers adore her)

2. she is a good student. she always does her best and works so hard.

3. beautiful green eyes.

4. kind heart, she is a good friend to everyone and has A LOT of friends.

5. she loves to read and is a major book worm (just like mom)

6. she is an awesome artist, another love we share.

7. even though we argue about hair, i love that she still lets me do it....

8. dedicated. she is a great example when it comes to reading her scriptures.

11. i love to watch her swim. she is really graceful.

Little Learners.......FINALLY!

He was so excited this morning that he actually ate breakfast (hasn't been happening around here lately). On the way there, he said "FINALLY, i get to go to MY school."

the kids started school august 15th (6th-graders) and 16th (everyone else). this year i just wasn't ready. we had a great summer that went by too stinkin' fast. the kids got a long great (i'm not sure how we lucked out there) and played well together. i also really enjoyed my free awesome babysitter. kaylee is the best big sister. andrew started 3rd grade. so far he is doing really well. i went in last week to talk to his teacher and she asked, "has he always been this good?" "i can always count on andrew to be attentive!" way to go andrew!

kaylee started middle school (sniff, sniff) i am excited for her and terribly sad at the same time. she is really loving it so far. (am i really old enough to have a kid in middle school?) now we just need will's school to start, everyday he wants to know when he gets to go the "little learners"!

Durango Mountain

will and daddy going down the alpine slides, the kids LOVED it.the bungee tramp was a hit for kaylee and andrew. andrew even got brave enough to do some flips. kaylee surprised me, this is not usually her kind of thing.

kaylee climbed the rock wall. she is pretty good at it. those long arms and legs come in pretty handy.

it was a great 4th of july weekend, thanks nannie and poppie for taking us on another great adventure.

Silverton, Colorado

we went to silverton for the 4th this year, i was a little worried how will would do, he hadn't fully recovered yet. he was a trooper and did great.

the fireworks in silverton are amazing. i would recommend going some day. you could feel them, and they echoed through the canyon. way cool.

kids are amazing both sam and will fell asleep through the show. i am not sure how they were soooo loud.

i was grateful will was able to go. i used it as motivation for him to get better. and it worked, he would take his medication and drink lots for me.

will has always been fascinated with birthdays, cake, candles, parties. it is his favorite holiday, even if it not his. but, it's even better when it is :) he got to celebrate his 5th birthday party in montana.

5 things i love about will:

1. i have never met a kid who loves to laugh as much as will. he has a great deep belly laugh. (he also has a really annoying fake one).

2. his imagination. he can entertain himself for hours with anything. seriously. just give him a packet of ketchup and a fork and watch for yourself. it's amazing.

3. he is so affectionate. he loves to cuddle and kiss. he's pretty darn sweet (when he's in the right mood).

4. he loves "bad" guys. he always wants to be the bad pirate, the joker, darth vador, or a mean guy. (wait.....maybe i should be worried?)

5. he loves his brothers and sister. he is (usually) really sweet with them.

on june 4th, 2011 andrew was baptized by his dad in belt montana. we had lots of family there, which we loved. we are really proud of andrew, he is such a good kid with a tender heart.

for the last day of his "mommy and me" preschool, we took the kids the the fire station. will loved it. it was cute to watch how closely he was observing the firemen. will finished out a year at "little learners" playing a bunch of fun games. he can't wait to go back next year, especially since his buddy asher will be joining him.

will has grown up a lot this year, and made a lot of progress. he still learns in a different way than most, but i am sooooo happy to see that he can (and will) learn.

andrew won 1st place for 2nd grade. his picture turned out awesome. he called it "fall tree" (this is his 3rd time winning first place.)

kaylee won every year she entered except this year, and she didn't even place.

MS run

we ran the ms run again this year. andrew ran it in 19:15, and kaylee ran it in 23:41. scott ran the first half with andrew and i ran with kaylee, then andrew was ready to take off so i went with him, and janna finished with kaylee. it was a good run. next year none of us will be able to keep up with andrew. he's a fast little bugger. thanks for the help nannie and poppie.

soccer superstar

andrew is so fun to watch play soccer. he has a love for the game and really caught on to a lot this year. he has figured out where he should be. (as well as where everyone else on his team should be, and he tries to tell them where to go.)

he is a great passer as well as an amazing scorer. this past weekend he was asked to play in a tournament. they played a few girl teams. (that was kinda interesting.)

i will be glad to have some saturdays back, although i will miss it. i am becoming a crazy soccer mom. (let's just say, if you were to sit next to me you might be embarrassed by the crazy screaming lady.)

1. obedient. he is my most obedient child. he only has to be asked once.

2. golden child. that is what his primary teachers call him. that makes me so proud.

3. sensitive. he is so aware of others and their feelings. (someday he may hate this one)

4. athletic. i love to watch him play soccer and basketball. he is amazing.

5. funny. his laugh can really get me going. love it.

7. adventurous. loves roller coasters, big water slides, cliff jumping.

Spring Break 2011 continued.

after the grand canyon we headed to chandler, az to a resort. we loved it there. we swam everyday, took boat rides, when out to yummy places to eat, went to the temple and shopped. we had a few sick kids, that was the only bummer. sam had a fever every day we were there. he only got to swim one day. the water was so warm and he loved it. i worked with will on swimming. he is sooooo close and can swim a little ways without floaties. this kid is a fish and loves to swim. he is a die hard and out lasts everyone else. one day jeff threw the football in the pool, and will followed it in yelling "cannon ball". problem was he didn't have on his floaties yet. oops. daddy had to save him.

i love this picture. i couldn't believe that they were all able to hang on long enough to get a few pictures.

On March 19th i ran my first half. it was so much fun. yes, fun. running 13.1 miles may not sound fun, but strangely it was. however the training that goes into, not so fun. but worth it. it is amazing what you can accomplish. back in january when i first started running again, i didn't think it would be possible. i felt so slow (and i was) i could barely run 12 minutes a mile. i thought i would never get to my goal of 10 minutes a mile. my favorite brother darrick (and yes he is my favorite right now) me and allison (my bff) and her friend (can't remember her name, oops) before the race started.

darrick and me after the race. i felt really good after the race (or so i thought) a couple hours after i got really sick. i think my body went into shock! i loved having my brother run with me, hopefully next year we can get a few more to run with us. (hint, hint to all my brothers and sisters and sisters in law)

basketball 2011

another basketball season has come and gone. the kids did great and had lots of fun. andrew learned a lot this year. he has mastered how to do a lay-up. now he just needs to master his left hand:) he had great coaches who taught them well and were a lot of fun.

kaylee had a fun season having one of her best friends on the team. it was interesting however playing against 6th and 7th graders. we were tiny compared to them. this was the first year i didn't help coach her team. i tried helping out the first few practices and games, however her coaches weren't too interested in learning things the correct way. i couldn't handle it after that.

7 months

sam is 7 months already. (crazy) he is a really good baby. he is always happy. (unless he is teething)
he now sleeps 8 hours (or more occasionally). whew!
he still has really poofy hair (picture above is evidence)
he can now crawl. (he looks like an inchworm)
he has 4 teeth. (with two more any day now)
he loves to jump. (he gives my arms a great work out.)
he is 90% for height and 25% for weight. (although we think he looks chunky)
he looks sooooo much like andrew. (we might start calling him andrew junior)
we love him tons. (so much we fight over who gets to hold him)

we headed to park city after christmas with nannie, poppie and jo-jo to have our christmas with them. it took us a couple of days to actually make it up there due to the weather. it was sooooo cold. we had a good time just hanging out, eating, and playing games.

jeff took the kids outside to take these pictures. it was like 3 degrees. they were out there for about 5 minutes before will was crying because it was so cold.\

Sam's first Christmas! He could have cared less:) although he did enjoy all the wrapping paper. will got his rocket ship that he has been wanting forever! it has been played with almost daily since, he loves that thing.

as usual Andrew was the first to wake up. he sat patiently on the stairs waiting for everyone for a realllllllly long time.

as usual kaylee would have liked to sleep longer but her brother couldn't wait any longer!

we had a great christmas morning opening presents at mike and tiffany's house. as usual the kids got way too much, and were excited about it all. later that day, mom and dad, matt and miriam, darrick and ariel, and chris and janet, and their families came over to mike's house for dinner. (we still had jo with us too) unfortunately i didn't take a single picture. we had yummy food, and all the cousins had fun together. the cousins exchanged presents and got to open their new ornament from grandma peanut. this is always a high light for my kids. they love their ornaments.

Christmas Eve 2010

we were in utah this year for Christmas with 4 of my brothers and my parents. we spent Christmas Eve with the Nielsens and Jo. we all got together at aunt cathies church building for yummy soup and treats. then we headed back to mike and tiffany's and opened the traditional Christmas Eve jammies. i was surprised how quickly our kids fell asleep. we thought they would be too excited. we talked alot about rudolf that night, andrew had been having some doubts about him...........

For our ward christmas party, the primary kids acted out the nativity. Kaylee was asked to be Mary (she was sooo excited). The other two were not initially in it, but one of the shepherds was sick so andrew got to fill in, and when will saw that asher was a wise man, he had to do it too. so all three got to be in it!

It must be my lucky day.....the computer and blogger decided to let me post. i have tried twice to do christmas pictures, obviously with no success. finally..... here is sam wearing a baby outfit of jeff's. both boys are pretty handsome if i do say so myself!

it was will's turn to put on the star this year. i am lovin the cheese.

andrew and kaylee look forward to this all year long. every year my mom gives the grandkids an ornament for christmas. they are both getting quite the collection. they love to find the perfect place for each one. will's perfect place was all along the bottom. ;)

4 months

our little 'sammie boy" as will calls him, is now 4 months old. he is a little chunk with big ears and a fuzzy head of hair. which i personally think is pretty darn cute.

he recently discovered his feet and is pretty fascinated by them. he has 2 teeth (yup 2 at 4 months). luckily no biting has happened yet. he chews on everything. he loves his brothers and sister. i wish he was a better sleeper. he gives the best smiles in the morning, which sometimes are a little too early for me. (4:30) but regardless i love him completely.

we went to the trunk or treat at our ward saturday night. we had josh and michelle's family here for the weekend and the kids had a blast together. i am sorry to say i didn't get a picture of all the kiddos dressed up together.

kaylee made a pretty cute witch. andrew, the poor kid, was sick with a fever and pink eye. but he was determined to go trunk or treating. he was so excited to be "daniel lacey" the star quarterback of our high school here in farmington.

then we have two of the cutest pirates ever, sam and will.

everyone but kaylee was sick on halloween day. but we still made the best of it. we had scott and janna over for dinner and made caramel apples. we turned out all the lights and ignored the ringing door bell of trick or treaters. it gets crazy here in our neighborhood on halloween. we had friends who had over 800 trick or treaters. thankfully we live at the top of a steep dark street and most don't come up here.

i have to admit, i felt like a kid again. i was so excited. the kind of excited that you feel as a kid before christmas. i was giddy. i have always wanted to go. i FINALLY got the chance. it couldn't have been more fun.

the weather was perfect. it wasn't hot. it wasn't cold. there were only 4,000 people in the whole park. there were no lines for shows or rides. in fact we didn't even have to get off our boat on the ship-wreck ride. i laughed so hard. i swallowed nasty water. i got completely soaked. i felt like a kid again.

these are the pictures we got of the kids while in california. of course we saved it till the last day and the kids were tired, (we were tired) and nobody felt like cooperating. so these were the best we could get. we didn't even get a good shot of sam. everyone was done by the time we got to him. and well babies who can't sit are just hard to photograph on a beach!

turned 11 last week! she got to celebrate her birthday in california. she had a very special day. she got to spend the day at sea world with her family. it doesn't get much better than that. she LOVED it! and so did the rest of us. there were only 4,000 people in the whole park. no crowds and no lines. the weather was perfect, not too hot not too cold. we had amazing seats in the soak zone, and didn't even get splashed. perfect.

she even got to open a few presents. she got LOTS of books, two cook books and an apron, headbands, a shirt, and a dolphin. she also gets to go pick out a new bike.

last sunday, august 22nd we had sam's baby blessing. he has his booties made by his great grandma grapes, and his blanket from great granna anna. doesn't he look sweet?

i was so excited to have matt and miriam and their kids here for it. i really appreciate them leaving texas early so they could be here. my kids love max and savannah and they all had such a good time with their cousins.

jeff gave sam such a sweet blessing. i am so grateful for him and what a great dad he is.

the kids had their first day of school august 16th. they were excited and dreading it all at once. andrew is in 2nd grade this year and is so excited to have mrs. martin as his teacher. she is the FUNNEST teacher in the school. after he came home he said, "i can't wait to go to school tomorrow!" kaylee is in 5th grade this year. (sniff, sniff) i can't believe that she will be in middle school next year! (does that mean i am getting old?) she already loves mrs. carpenter, and i do too because she doesn't believe in spelling lists!! will is getting anxious to start pre-school next week!

Having a Little Contest

ok.....i was thinking about having a little contest. (with a real prize!) all you have to do to enter is guess how big this baby is gonna be. the person who is the closest to the actual weight and length wins! but you also have to give me a good idea on names, since i am still struggling with that. some of the names we like are daniel, samuel, simon, benjamin, noah.......etc. those classic boy names.
here's a little history.
kaylee was 8 lbs 8 oz
andrew was 9 lb 0 oz (14 days early)
will was 9 lb 9 oz (10 days early)
here is kind of an odd statistic: all 3 babies were 21 1/2 inches long
jeff thinks the winner should get to come and stay with us for a week and get up with the baby and change his diaper. i was thinking more along the lines of a gift certificate:) good luck! baby boy nygren will be born on wednesday july 14th!!

can't believe that he is 4 years old today! man, how time flies by. i just love this kid. 4 things i love about will: 1.) His silly faces he makes like in the picture below. i love the one-eyed willie. 2.) He loves to laugh, he is a happy happy kid and loves nothing more than to laugh. often times that laugh is a little forced and fake, but i love it. 3.) his funny little run. it is kinda hard to explain you would just have to see it. but it makes me smile. 4.) i probably shouldn't love it, and i do try to put a stop to it, but the kid is infatuated with saying poop. it shouldn't make me laugh, but it does. i love when he doesn't know i am listening and i bust him saying it to bubba. and then as soon as he sees me he says, "sorry mom".

piano recital and talent show

kaylee auditioned to be a part of the school talent show, and made it. i was very proud of her, there is no way i would have ever done that when i was her age. i love how much she has blossomed this year. she played the piano.

she finished up her 4th year of piano lessons with tyra moeller. this is not something that comes easily to kaylee, so i am proud of her for sticking with it.

jeff was a good sport this year and participated in most of the events so that andrew would. his best friend was out of town and he was feeling a little lost without him. so dad stepped up. i think he secretly enjoyed it.

i can't believe it's the end of another school year. wow where did the time go? over all it has been a good year. it definately had its ups and downs, but we learned a lot along the way. i am so grateful for good teachers, what a difference they can make in your kids lives.

every year at ladera, all the kids square dance on field day. it was really fun to watch. most kids didn't seem too grossed out at holding hands.

here is andrew and his "colorful tree" oil pastel. he was 1st place in 1st grade. i was really proud of him, he usually rushes through work to finish quickly and he took his time on this art piece. it took us almost 2 hours to finish coloring and rubbing it. here is kaylee's water color "spring blossoms". this was a really fun art project. the back ground was water color, then we actually blew the tree with a straw and tempera paint. it was so neat how it actually made it look like a tree. kaylee won 1st place for 4th grade.

i love art, and i love that at our school, i get to go into my kids classrooms and teach them art. both of my kids are developing a passion in common with me!

as a mom i couldn't be more proud of my kiddos.......yesterday they ran in the Ladera MS run. Last year Kaylee ran it in 23:00. You have to run it in under 22 minutes to receive a certificate. So that was her goal. I am so proud of her she ran it in 20:38 (according to school, Jeff actually clocked them in 19: 50). she pushed herself so hard that she almost threw up! I love it!

this was Andrew's first year to get to run. We asked Poppie to run it with him since mom is out of commission. I told Scott it would be easy, that he would probably walk alot. When Kaylee was a first grader she ran it in like 25 minutes. Well Andrew tried to push his Poppie. He only walked a couple of times and ran it in 22:48. I am so proud. By the time he is a 5th grader none of us will be able to keep up with him.

Andrew ran it with his best buddy Gabe. I am proud of all them including Jeff and Scott who had to run hard to keep up with the kids! thanks for doing it. I can't wait to run it next year!

Andrew is 7 years old today! Ah Man he is getting so old! Here are a few things I love about him:

1. He is a great listener, he is my kid who you tell him to do it once and it always gets done.

2. He doesn't usually complain about it either, he just says SURE!

3. He is a great athlete and is very competitive (i have no idea where he gets that from). I love to watch him compete.

4. He is a funny kid and often gets us laughing by the silly things he says.

5. He is a great friend to others, and has many good friends.

6. He is a sensitive soul. (no idea where that comes from either) he even cried in Pete's Dragon.

7. He has beautiful eyes that have that special sparkle in them.

spring break

this year for spring break, we got to ditch the kids in utah with matt and miriam, and head off to vegas. yes people that is right, we had a vacation with no kids! it is the first time we have ever done that. the most we have ever left them is for a night. being pregnant and all i actually cried when we left them. it totally surprised me, cause i was so excited to go. i guess i do love them after all.

we started off our trip getting to spend 4 hours in the slc airport. it was a bummer, but we got to watch the byu game and i got in a quick nap. it ended up being a really late night, so the next morning we slept in. we stayed at the mandalay bay. i usually have a very good sense of direction, but man i kept getting all turned around. the first 3 days i would turn the wrong way getting off the elevator to our room.

one of the best days there was spent at the beach at the hotel. it was 78 degrees that day. perfect in my opinion. i can't even remember the last time i was at a pool and wasn't constantly watching and looking for my children. probably 10 years. we had fun in the wave pool, and as we were getting out we heard, "jeff? is that you?" it was crazy running into people we knew, let alone nygrens! that's right it was jeff's uncle steve, barbara, paige, preston, and meschan's family. what are they odds?
that night jeff had bought me tickets to the lion king. and let me tell you it was amazing. i loved every minute of it. well maybe not the fact that my water cost $4 and a beer cost $2! other than that it was worth every penny. the costumes are amazing.

i had such a great time spending time with jeff, alone. we did find ourselves thinking about the kids ALOT. we kept thinking, "the kids would love this". so we will have to take them there someday.

a couple of weekends ago one of kaylee's cousins came to town. jacob, kaylee and hailie get along so well. they are so fun together. after having a bad week, it was exactly what kaylee needed. jeff took them on a nature hike. i packed them all lunches and they headed out to choke cherry canyon.

i am so grateful she has such great cousins (on both sides).

a couple of weeks ago jeff had a 4 day weekend and was headed to hobbs to work. it happened to be the same weekend my cousin was blessing their baby and baptizing thier daughter. so we decided to go with. we took a little detour to carlsbad caverns. our kids mostly had fun. andrew was paranoid that it could possibly cave and fall on us, and will was convinced there were tigers. so they were a little paranoid. noise travels really loudly through the caverns, and at one point some guy sneezed really loud across the way and andrew thought it was all gonna start coming down on us.;) fyi: i didn't take this picture........

i can't believe that i haven't blogged in a couple of months. i have finally started to feel better the last couple of weeks. i am now way behind, and instead of trying to play catch up, i will just start with where we are at right now. currently we are busy with basketball season. i love basketball and love to watch my kids, but with 8:00 a.m. games every saturday, i am ready for it to end. only 3 more weeks. they are both doing really well. i help coach kaylee's team again, and they are really good again this year. she has gotten really good at dribbling with her left hand for a 4th grader. andrew has improved alot this year too, unfortunately his coaches are kind of partial to their own sons, and don't coach everyone.

kaylee is also on the swim team, and has been for the last 4 months. she has improved a ton and is getting really good. between swim, basketball, piano, and home-work, she hasn't had a lot of free time.

i am now 18 weeks, and looking very pregnant. next week we get to have the ultrasound! we are super excited !

will has started a fun little pre-school group with my friends from church and he loves it! he has suddenly become very social. pretty much everyday he wants to know if he has schoool. he has grown up so much in the last few months. i guess that is a good thing with the baby coming.

november in a nutshell

i am a total blog slacker. i know. no excuses.

we had a great november. here is a small summary.

nov. 1st-10th: we watched my brother matt and miriam's 2 kids. savanah (3) and max (15 months). it was so fun, my kids totally adored them. kaylee was a huge help especially with max and honestly he prefered her over me most of the time. andrew was a huge help with savanah because as she said "andrew is my favorite". she was constantly wetting and combing her hair and asking andrew if she was beautiful. i have heard she has shared some interesting stories about us with her parents. for instance, apparently jeff got mad at me for touching his computer. who knows what else she told them they aren't sharing with us. we had a lot of fun, but i'm not gonna lie, i was exhausted and happy to go back to being a parent of 3.

nov. 7th: we found out we are gonna have another baby. #4. so i better enjoy being a parent of 3 for the next 7 months. :) i know some of you may be a little shocked. we thought we were done having children and have actually sold all our baby stuff. but we changed our minds.....

nov. 16th: i started experiencing severe tooth pain.
nov.17th: found out i had to have a root canal, had to try to live through most of the pain because of being in the first trimester! it sucked.

nov. 24th: went to new moon with my fabulous friends, i didn't like it. may have had something to do with extreme tooth pain, being overly tired, and being nauseous!

nov.25th-29th: went to utah for thanksgiving. loved being with family. thanksgiving day was awesome ( other than jeff being in nm working). the food was good, nothing is better than my dad's home-made rolls. i think i ate about 6 that day. that was about all i did eat because being pregnant nothing else tasted that good. so happy the kids got to see my parents since that only happens once or twice a year.

nov.30th: had a root canal. once again no pain meds. sucks! but now it is feeling all better!

my friend michelle did a post where she picked the 10th picture from her first file of pictures on her computer and told the story behind it. i cheated a little these were more like the 15th-17th pictures, but when i saw them i went ahhh, look how cute he was. how dare you set me down and leave me here mom! i am too cold and tired to be messed with...seriously!

yesterday i took will to the pumpkin patch with a bunch of friends. we had a good time. he loved this little train ride. this was on the hay ride, which was his favorite thing of all.

i could not get this kid to smile for the life of me. this is the pumpkin that he picked out and insisted upon.

andrew is playing soccer again this fall. he is doing so good and has such a good team! most of them work so hard, andrew plays hard and pretty much always gives 100%. he lives for saturdays and game time. notice the tongue sticking out? hmmm.... i wonder where he gets that from?

although i thought i would be happy to not have to worry about taking care of spike, i am actually sad he is gone. not sad cause i liked the ugly little thing, but sad cause it broke andrew's heart. the first day he surprised me when we found him missing. he was upset but he didn't cry. but the next day after school, i found him outside next to spike's cage crying his eyes out. it was so sad. he just kept saying, "i just miss spike". he really did love that ugly little thing:) now both kids are after me for a turtle. ahhhh.....what is a girl to do?

when we were in montana this summer jeff caught this little horny-toad. and lucky me, we decided to keep him as a pet. i honestly thought he would be dead by now, after losing him like 3 times in our van on the way back to new mexico. but like i said, lucky me, he is still alive. the kids love him. it is getting colder so we brought him in the house the other night to sleep, the next day i walked in the living room and will had carried his cage to the living room floor and was holding him. i'm surprised he didn't get loose in the house. like i said, i am surprised he is not dead.

kaylee got a bunch of new books (5). she also got a bunch of new stuff for her room (including roxie bedding which she has been dying to get) , a cd, and a hannah montana barbie (andrew insisted on buying it for her), and some jewelry, a swimming suit (so she can join the swim team) and the dress she is wearing. pretty good birthday for a ten year old. thanks everyone!

Today, I am feeling old.........I have a 10 year old. I am so happy for her, but sad for me. That means i only get her for 8 more years. I wish time would slow down just a bit.

A few of my favorite things about Kaylee are: 1. Her Laugh-totally contageous. 2. Her love for her brothers-she is so great with them especially Will. 3. Her love of reading-she will read for hours(although sometimes she can't focus on anything else:) . 4. She's a great friend to everyone. 5. Her happy personality, she's an optimist. 6. Beautiful green eyes. 7. She almost always lets me fix her hair how I want. 8. When she sings;) 9. She loves playing the piano and rarely complains of practicing. 10. Her love of the gospel. She is a great example to me by reading scriptures daily and faithfully keeping a journal.

the last 3 days we hit the beaches again. we went to huntington beach, newport and laguana again. newport was the funnest beach for the kiddos. it is shallow and the waves are not as rough. they had so much fun. here is kaylee and g.g. preston pulling andrew on a boogie board.

day 3 disneyland!!

we went to disneyland!! yeah!! we had so much fun. it was a long exhausting day, but totally worth it. all i have to say is thank goodness for the fast pass, we never waited in line for more than 30 minutes, and usually only about 10. andrew loved splash mountain and would have spent the entire day doing it over and over. here we all are towards the end of the day looking a little tired.

kaylee waited longer to see tinker bell than we waited for any rides. but she thought it was worth it.

poor will fell asleep and woke up in the middle of the haunted mansion, to say the least he was a little freaked. i thought he was going to be scarred for life. but the next day all he talked about was the baby elephant that blew water on us during the jungle tour.

another high-light for our family was the honey i shrunk the audience. my two older kids totally thought that was awesome. will again was a little freaked out. poor kid, disneyland freaked him out. i guess that's what happens when your the youngest and you mostly do all the big kid stuff. we had an amazing day we loved it all from splash mountain to it's a small world to the amazing fireworks. we hope to go back again for more than one day.

we went with the nygren's this year to california. we haven't went the last 2 years so we were excited to hit the beaches and boogie boards! the kids had a blast this year, kaylee had never been much a fan of the waves but she was a total surfer girl this year, so brave it made mom a little nervous. kaylee and her cousin jacob the boys had fun with all the nasty sea weed making a little island out of it. andrew, ryan and will.

this guy is a total surfer dude. he absolutely loves the ocean. he played so hard every day in the waves i was amazed! he is going to be like his poppie and dad, they absolutely love the ocean.

we went to the cemetary to see my dad's two brothers, his mom and dad. the brothers each had four roses and laid one on each of the headstones while my cousin played his trumpet. it was really neat and a bit emotional. i can't believe it's been 8 years since my grandma bird passed away. being in fairfield for the day brought back a lot of memories of her and getting to go stay at her house, which we loved! she always had yummy treats, cable tv, rhubarb growing outside, and nothin' was better than swimming at the fairfield pool. it was so neat to have her around while i was living in utah too. she helped me shop for my wedding dress and bought my veil. occasionally i would go pick her up and take her shopping, and a few times jeff and i went and stayed with her while bruce and sabra went out of town. i am grateful for those opportunities.

i wish i had known my grandpa, i imagine him to be like my dad only with a thick norwegian accent. i look forward to meeting him and my uncles, eddie and nolan.

thanks to pam and marcy who took the lead and planned to reunion for all of us. you guys are awesome.

Kolste Family Reunion

we had our first ever kolste family reunion. we went to the old homestead that my dad grew up on. the original home is no longer there. i wish my kids could have seen it. it was made of two box cars, and eventually had a few add-ons but it was still tiny. it is beautiful there. will loved sitting on all the old tractors. a family pic on one of their old tractors that now sits on the foundation of the old house.

i left there with an appreciation most especially for my grandma. man she was one tough cookie. she raised 5 boys on that farm. the two oldest boys died when they were 19 and 20, and my grandpa died at 54. she was an amazing lady.

4th of july

the kids and i were in montana on the 4th of july. my sister melanie and her kids were there too. we had a lazy morning and then took the kids swimming in great falls. the kids had a great time being with cousins. then we came back to belt for dinner and fire-works. we took the kids down town for an up-close encounter with fireworks. (running for cover a couple of times) it also started pouring on us and the kids had a blast running in the rain and watching the fireworks. this is how i fixed kaylee and her cousins hair for the 4th. i should have taken a picture of all three of them. one had a red star, a blue star, and a white star. it looked really cool. it's kinda hard to tell in the picture, but it looked like a perfect star.

andrew played baseball again this year. he was REALLY fun to watch. man that kid can hit the ball. we were really proud of him. i am not a huge fan of baseball (especially here in farmington where everyone is nutso about it) but unfortunately for me he LOVES it and is good at it. next year we move up a level and they already pick teams by a draft! have you ever heard of such craziness? i guess we will give it a try.

the kids have taking tennis lessons all summer. they went to tennis camp the first week school was out, and now they have been taking lessons at our neighbors house for the last 4 weeks. they are doing great. this is kaylee's 3rd year and andrew's first.

well jeff made it happen. i got to go see david cook in concert. it was sooooo much fun. jordanne, marcy and i had so much fun and acted like giddy teen-agers. i love to listen to his music, and seeing him live was amazing.

we also got to spend a day at ocean beach in san diego and do a little shopping. marcy took some really awesome pics with her nice camera ( my cheapo did ok ) so i will have some better photos. i don't know if she even got to watch the concert, i kept yelling at her to take a picture! i am looking forward to 2 years (not 1) girls!

ok,... wow, i am really far behind. andrew had his 6th birthday april 22nd. he got to have some friends over to slip n' slide. kyle, andre, micah, noah, luke and brody.

he also got lots of spy gear stuff. he was way excited.

i can't believe that he is six years old! he is such a fun kid, i sure love him.

Jeff had a birthday May 22nd. i won't say how old....cause he's getting real old. jk. i love you more honey.

Will turned 3 on june 7th. he got this thomas the train tent and loved it.

he also loved his mike (aka batman) jammies and scooter (from nannie and poppie)

loving some cake and ice-cream. i love this sweet little face. it makes me want to eat his french fry fingers. (an inside family thing). you'd have to be a nygren to get that one.

i can't believe it took me 2 months to get around to blogging about birthdays. what can i say...i am a total slacker at the whole blogging thing. in the beginning it's all new and exciting, but now that we're over a year mark, the excitement has dwindled. i do love it, but sometimes it feels like another chore, one more thing to get done. better late than never right?? right??

hawaii day 6 & 7

aahh, the last of the hawaiin vacation. so sad, so sad. our last two days we mostly hung out at the beach and went shopping. this last beach was so fun for the kids, the waves were perfect for them to boogie board and they loved it. it also had sea shells every where, and they had fun finding them.

my kids cracked me up wearing goggles boogie boarding, but they refused to do it without them.

they LOVE playing in the sand. i am the only one who kind of hates sand.

our last night we went to this really cool banyan tree on front street. front street was a really touristy area that was fun to shop. of course pictures can't do justice, but it was cool how this trees branches intertwined and hung.

our last sunset. it was so beautiful. i can't wait to go back someday. what a fabulous trip.

day 4 & 5: part 2

so after pearl harbor we headed over to the polynesian cultural center. on the way andrew decided to try and pull off the band on his wrist with his teeth, and well from the picture i'm sure you can guess what happened. yeah, his tooth came out and then proceeded to go down his throat and into his tummy. he cried and cried (and bled and bled, that tooth wasnt quite ready) because he was worried that the tooth fairy wouldn't find him without a tooth and all the way in hawaii. well that really nice tooth fairy found him and left him a nice shark tooth neclace. the pcc was so much fun! wow there was so much to do. there wasn't nearly enough time to fit it all in.

kaylee got to go on stage and learn a dance. she was pretty cute. andrew refused to go on stage, he missed out on the fun. jeff also got to go on stage, but he might kill me if i posted a picture. he was a good sport about it though. i'm pretty sure they couldn't have paid me enough money to go on stage with out a shirt on.

will having fun. by now his tummy had settled a little.

we all got tattoos. a highlight for andrew.

right when we were about to leave, we realized that our back-pack was missing, with our cameras and the keys to our rental, and our plane tickets back to maui! auugh the panic set in. i ran the entire pcc to look for it. when i was almost all the way through some workers asked if i needed help with anything, and i said yeah, i am looking for a back pack. the kids says, "like this one" and held up ours! i about died! i screamed, "YES". i wanted to give him a big hug, but i thought he might get freaked out!

we barely had time to stop by the temple before we caught our plane. it was an amazing day full of puke, swallowed teeth, and missing back packs, and 3 completely exhausted kids. totally worth it.

day 4 was another beach/snorkel day. day 5 was our busiest adventure. we got up around 3:30 to catch our flight to oahu. will was a little grumpy about getting up that early and apparently his tummy was a little grumpy too because when we landed he threw up all over the two of us. not the best way to start out the day! then we headed to pearl harbor. that was a highlight of the trip for me. jeff's grandpa wally was at pearl harbor when it was attacked, he had shrapnel in his legs. it was great for the kids to get to see it all.

jeff and i got to go on a zip line tour. we had such a good time spending time together with out any kiddos. thanks to scott, janna and jordanne for volunteering to take the kids so we could go. they took the kids to the aquarium that day. don't we look "special"?

my helmet was kind of loose, so i was expressing my concern to our guide, who let me know the helmet wouldn't help anyway if i was to fall. (so why the heck do they make you wear those ugly things anyway?)
